Architectural Design

Clearly defining the technical architecture and agreeing this with all parties provides a solid foundation for the design. It helps to keep the project aligned with overall requirements and allows you to have visibility and reference to key or detailed aspects of the work.

There are many benefits of producing an architectural design document, not least, is that from the document we are able to provide to the client a fixed cost for the data warehouse build, and with that all of the effective and efficient project management techniques that we have developed over the years to keep everything on track and delivered to an agreed deadline in terms of time and cost.

During the analysis stage the Insource team will work closely with the client’s key personnel to ensure that Insource create a solution that supports the business’s requirements and that the parties have a clear idea of their responsibilities throughout the project. The Architectural Design documentation is highly comprehensive, containing information on a wide range of relevant topics including business rules, data sets, cubes, recommended software and mapping. This stage of the process is always undertaken by a minimum of 2 staff – the Chief Technical Architect, and a system deployment Technical Lead – to allow for the very high level input along with validation to be undertaken. It also provides for a seamless movement in the project as knowledge is accumulated and used by staff without risking miscommunication or delays through handovers.

Most importantly however, a design is performed with the full involvement of you, the client. It is meticulously reviewed with you, it is explained exhaustively and aims to ensure you are completely assured it will perform to your greatest advantage. Only then will it require your commitment with sign-off.
