South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust signed a major deal with data automation provider Insource Ltd to improve the accuracy of elective care data and support patients and clinicians. The Insource solution will automate data extraction from 34 specialties, using evidenced-based validation, to form a single consolidated, real-time, patient pathway and waiting list management system. The Trust will then be able to eliminate the use of cumbersome excel spreadsheets.

South Tees, one of the largest Trusts in the North East, employs 9,000 staff and covers a population of 1.5 million. The Insource Patient Pathway Plus (PP+) solution will enable targeted, elective care across the trust’s two acute and four primary care hospitals.

Also, as a regional Cancer Centre and Major Trauma Centre, South Tees has taken the Cancer e-learning programme for all cancer coding and data input throughout the Trust. This will help to track RTT timescales, cancer treatment progress and outpatient care.

Steven Mason, Director of Finance at South Tees, stated, “The installation of PP+ is will undoubtedly improve data accuracy across our multi-site locations and smooth our CCG reporting and PTL tracking. It will also provide a platform for our future.”

Removing the need for staff to collect, input, validate and report data on multiple excel spreadsheets throughout the Trust will free-up more time and resources for patient care.

Sam Elliott, CEO of Insource Ltd, stated: “PP+ will undeniably save South Tees significant amounts of time in the short term and improve the quality and accuracy of their data for planning purposes in the near future.”

PP+ a Proven Solution, Quickly Deployable

PP+ is a very powerful data management platform that connects directly with the source systems and PAS to extract, process, validate and unify data automatically. Through automated data pipelines and a complex set of rules-based, data validation processes PP+ provides a ‘single version of the truth’ across the whole Trust and shows the precise status of electives waiting for treatment at any point in time.

PP+ provides a transparent, evidence-based data management platform that enables Trusts to manage their patient pathways and pathway processes throughout the organisation. Being a centralised digital hub, it is perfectly suited for workforces distributed across organisations and multiple locations, including those working remotely as a result of Covid restrictions.

PP+ is designed to respect individual Trust local business rules and nuances regarding waiting list management, DNAs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). It also comes with full analytics and cohort segmentation with data drill-through enabled by its sophisticated data management capability and Unified Data Layer. PP+ is fully expandable for capacity planning, demand management, cancer pathways, statutory returns, analytics modules and more.
