North Staffordshire combined mental health and community trust appoint Insource Ltd as its strategic data partner

Insource Ltd, the leading data management provider to the NHS, are delighted to be working with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare on their trust-wide data management, statutory reporting and core infrastructure upgrade programme.

Combined Healthcare is a leading provider of mental health, social care, learning disability and substance misuse services in the West Midlands. It is the only mental health trust in the West Midlands rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.  In line with the NHS data strategy, the integrated care needs of the ICS and the trust’s own digital ambitions, Combined Healthcare has selected a supplier with proven mental health expertise and powerful end-to-end NHS data management capabilities.

The Insource data management platform will be an important component of how Combined acquires and unifies disparate data, insight and knowledge from across all of the Trust’s clinical systems into a single, fully validated, source of the truth for clinical activity.  The solution will be provided as a managed service and will deliver automated statutory reporting.  This source of information will form the foundation for BI and analytics for informed care decisions throughout the organisation.

Vicky Boswell, Associate Director of Performance, North Staffs commented, “Combined Healthcare is one of only two specialist mental health trusts in England with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission. In order to maintain our standing, meet the evolving needs of our community and match the increasing demands for system-wide unified data access, we wanted a strategic data partner to help us in our journey.

“Insource came highly recommended, which was key, as we wanted to innovate and understand best practice from our chosen partner.

“We decided on a managed service, as we recognised we didn’t have the expertise or capacity in-house. We also needed the agility to meet any changing data or reporting demands – from the centre or the ICS – which a managed service gives us. But perhaps most important was the accuracy of the data Insource are able to produce, to reflect the quality of the service we provide.”

The solution includes the Insource Health Data Enterprise (HDE) data management platform – specifically aligned to mental health – and automated statutory reporting including MHSDS (Mental Health Services Data Set).

Ultimately, as part of the managed service package, Combined Healthcare are intending to deploy the Insource demand and capacity planning module to develop a realistic understanding of the real capacity demands of adult mental health across the geography and be able to cope with unplanned changes, especially in light of the Covid backlogs.

Sam Elliott, CEO Insource, stated: “North Staffs are a very forward thinking organisation with their move to become a data-driven organisation.  We are immensely proud that the Insource data management solution is seen as a critical enabler to their success. Our automated data acquisition, powerful processing, comprehensive data validation and statutory reports automation will significantly reduce any manual involvement from the trust and dramatically improve data quality and accessibility to staff.  We are delighted to have been chosen as a strategic partner in this core infrastructure upgrade and as an enabler of any future service transformation.”
